So they consolidated Manga Studio and Clip Studio, which is great for everyone, but kind of confusing. If you’re still using MS5 like I was, you should update to Clip Studio; it turns out you can just go to the update page on Clip Studio and put in your serial number and it’ll get you the newest version of Clip Studio, which is great.

It also imports all your stuff, so you don’t have to worry about copying stuff over or anything @ v @

The information is kind of hidden, but a bit of pecking around solved my problem, so now I impart that knowledge onto my lovely followers~

I thought I’d share this particular knowledge in case anyone was getting stuck on Manga Studio and wanted to move up right now. I was considering buying Clip Studio because I couldn’t find how to update on the Manga Studio website. Just skip that site and go to Clip Studio’s site. Why they don’t have a quick little explanation about this, I don’t know! If you don’t have Clip Studio yet and want it, it’s on sale! yay!

holy shit I didn’t know this, that’s awesome
reblogging here in case any of my followers use Manga Studio 5 too

When someone says they believe in equality but they’re not a feminist?????????????????????????

And????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

It’s almost as if feminism doesn’t own equality???????????????????

Man, it’s almost like feminists can’t take no for an answer.

They can’t take no for an answer.

But they’re very good at giving it as a responce

This kind of back and forth frustrates the hell out of me, because it’s obvious people really fail to consider how many different interpretations of “feminism” there are anymore, because of so many different kinds of people (both good and bad) fighting under it’s flag.

So now we get these petty snark wars and it’s not even clear what anyone here actually believes–they’re all assuming everyone is using their own interpretation of the same word, when such a thing is not very likely.

I consider myself a feminist; which is to say I believe in genuine equal gender rights and mutual respect and I condemn anykind of gender-based hate. But I also have to recognize that not everyone interprets the word the same.

When I see someone post something to the effect of “I hate feminists” without context, I can never be sure if they’re actually bigoted men-superiorists who think things should go back to the 1950s, or if they’re actually responding to the “rad-fem” movement which promotes aggression and demeaning against men and the women who support men and several other nasty things. And no one else can be sure what they’re saying when they say “I hate feminists” either. the term has become just that muddy and unclear.

It leads to this stupid mud-slinging free-for-all in which I’m sure at least some of the people involved are actually equally interested in combating bigotry but do so under different flags, while mistaking the meanings of other people’s flags. People assume anyone who is a feminist must be a castrating-maniac, or people who assume that anyone who doesn’t identify as a feminist must be rapist–all you people need to stop it. Stop assuming everyone interprets the word exactly the same as you do.

It’s maddening and it’s frustrating, and it breaks my heart to see this kind of thing happen again and again. Whether you call yourself a feminist, an egalitarian or don’t care to use a term at all, try not to assume who a person is based just a buzzwords and actually learn who they are before condemning them. Otherwise, we end up with a lot of infighting and people confusing heroes with the villains and vice versa. And then nothing gets done.

Think, people. Haven’t we established time and time again that unrestrained prejudice against a whole group of people is never a good thing?

The only actual "sides" are the people actually for equality (many titles exist but the most inclusive is egalitarian) and the destructive radicals hiding under others' names. It's kind of like how not all religious people are inherently good or bad.

ambris answered:

THAT IS EXACTLY IT!

And attacking or mocking people based entirely on a label, rather than what they actually believe is just harmful, and only serves make us attack each other rather than the actual enemy.

Thank you for sending that message :)

I'm really unsettled that you're reblogging stuff from Camille Paglia. Not only does she say think that being gay is choice and reproductive sex is the only natural form of sexuality, she also blames victims for being sexually assaulted because of how they dress. I'm telling you this because you've always been a vey socially conscientious blogger and I figured you must not know some of things she supports. You can google if you want to fact check this, the assault article is "the modern Campus".

ambris answered:

I’d never heard of her before, so you’re right about that.

I think it’s worth mentioning that her statements in that post, taken in a vacuum, are still pretty solid. It would be kinda disappointing if she turned out to be otherwise flawed as you suggest.

Unfortunately, I don’t really have the time or energy to research her and develop an educated opinion. And I’m not gonna support or refute a person without doing more research myself, so for the moment I’ll simply delete my reblog and maintain an all around skeptical view of her until I know more.

Thank you for the information–I definitely appreciate your reasonable demeanor.

From this article

http://www.progressivestoday.com/feminist-camille-paglia-calls-out-transgender-mania-and-says-parents-who-indulge-kids-are-committing-child-abuse-video/

She appears to be saying that parents shouldn’t indulge a child who makes the claim of being transgender or even a teen who makes the claim, that to do so would be a form of abuse and that parents and kids should both wait until the child is of a more mature age.

While I can see and even agree with SOME of that, there are plenty of children who understand what they mean when they “I don’t feel right in my own body” or things like “My reflection is wrong”. Personally I do think parents and kids DO need to be more informed but that information should come from professional therapists who will treat the matter seriously and not just write it off.

HOWEVER…

From what I see in this article

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/sam-dorman/camille-paglia-transgender-mania-symptom-cultural-collapse

She is expressing a viewpoint I would indeed consider transphobic. Saying that just because you’ve altered your appearance all of your inner biology is still unchanged is a rather disheartening slap in the face. There are transwomen who know what their birth biology is and know full well that they will never experience pregnancy and that can be a massive source of depression for these women but should they be made to feel constantly that they aren’t “real women” because of that?

And frankly this article

http://www.theblaze.com/blog/2014/07/15/feminist-author-and-self-described-transgender-being-transgender-phenomena-multiply-and-spread-as-civilizations-begin-to-decline/

Just confuses the fucking hell out of me in regards to her stance on transgenderism.

She has some nice ideas here and there but I just… I don’t think I can like this woman. I’ll have to read more before I make a certain judgement. I suggest everyone else do the same. and thank you to that Anon.

man, I can’t tell you how nice it is to see people thinking critically and reading up on stuff like this on here. so much of the discourse online is just super reactionary and it’s depressing, so it makes me happy to see such reasonable discussion.

it’s a shame she holds these views though, I watched a bit of that video and she seemed quite reasonable. her views on transfolk are pretty impossible for me to ignore tho, it’s too bad that clearly pretty intelligent people can think things like that.
